Dear Parents and Carers,
I’m writing on behalf of Summit Learning Trust and all our academies to say a huge thank you to all of you.
I understand how hard it is for parents, whatever your circumstances, to manage having your children at home working on remote learning – particularly if you are working at home yourself. Some of you will have several children at home to manage. We have been able to provide over 1500 laptops for the children and young people in our academies, but I know that this may still leave some of you with limited resources.
The government has told schools that we must provide a set number of hours of learning each day, and I am very pleased that all our academies are doing this extremely well. Many of you have very kindly written to or called your child’s academy to let them know how impressed you have been. Thank you so much for that – nothing means more to our teachers, leaders and support staff than hearing that their amazing efforts are appreciated.
Let me reassure you that however much support you are able to offer your child at home; you’re doing a great job. We don’t expect you to be teachers; please just encourage your child to do the best they can with the work they are set each day. Please also make sure that they have regular breaks from their screens, and some time outside in the fresh air getting some exercise.
And please try not to worry too much. Whenever pupils come back to school this spring, their excellent teachers will make sure that they catch up with their learning, and continue to do well.
The most important thing is that you continue to work in partnership with your child’s school. Please do ask for any support or help that you might need as we get through the next few weeks.
And thank you all again, for all that you’re doing.
All best wishes,
Summit Learning Trust
