Thank you for your support and understanding since our return to school in September. We have been very impressed with how pupils have settled back into school life and how well they have responded to the new safety routines and procedures which are in place.
As you know, we have continued to put in place lots of measures to keep Yarnfield extremely clean and safe for our pupils and staff during the school day.
In recent weeks, though, we have had a number of positive Covid-19 test results. As a result, we have had to send increasing numbers of children and staff home to self- isolate. Our aim is to keep as many children and staff in school as possible by ensuring the school is as safe as it can be.
Therefore, after half term, we will be making further changes to the way we are working. We are reducing the size of each ‘bubble’ to one class, and we aim to stop the movement of staff between classes.
Every teacher has one morning or afternoon during the week to plan and prepare their lessons (this is a statutory requirement). Currently, the class has to be covered by another teacher during this time. To make Yarnfield even safer by stopping the movement of staff between classes, all teachers’ planning and preparation time will move to Friday afternoons. This means that school will finish after lunch on Fridays. This change will start on the first Friday after half term, Friday 6th November and will last until the Christmas break.
This early closure on Fridays will also provide the opportunity for additional weekly deep cleaning of the school.
We hope that these new measures will mean that fewer children and staff have to be sent home to self-isolate if any cases of COVID-10 come into school.
The afternoon session for Nursery pupils will continue as normal.
The children will be given work to complete before returning to school on Monday, ensuring that they do not miss any learning.
Parents of children in Reception – Year 6 can continue to collect at the latest time for siblings.
If you are a working parent and have no alternative childcare available for your child, please contact the school on 0121 693 0362 so that we can make arrangements for your child.
We understand that there are lots of changes in light of the Covid-19 pandemic and appreciate your support during this time. We are committed to ensuring that your children are safe in school and we will continue to provide them with a high quality and exciting education.
