Year five went on a very special trip to the MAD Museum (the UK’s only mechanical art museum) in Stratford-upon-Avon as part of our Science topic: Forces! The children were able to explore a variety of thrilling contraptions and release their ‘inner inventor’ by pressing  buttons, turning screws and building their own marble runs. Highlights included a robotic dinosaur head (which roared), the ‘Kitchenator’ (a giant marble run built entirely from items you’d find in a kitchen), and a scary wooden chest which opened on it’s own. When we returned to school, the children took inspiration from the museum to design their own simple automaton toy.
