At Yarnfield, we try to promote a healthy eating policy and hope that parents would support this. The menu for school meals is currently planned on a four week cycle, and offers a minimum choice of seven meals, including a vegetarian and Halal option. Menus are displayed in the hall for the children. Current menus can be viewed on the link below.
All children in the Reception and Key Stage 1 are now entitled to a free school dinner every day. Free meals are available for children of families entitled to Universal Credit, Income Support, and Job-Seekers Allowance. Please ask the School Office for an application form if required.
It is important that all eligible families register for the entitlement of free school meals, even if school dinners are not taken. The school will receive £1320 for every child that meets this criteria and will use this money to provide additional resources and support for the children.
As with all schools, Yarnfield has reviewed its policies and procedures, to ensure that statutory Government policy is followed.
We have ensured that fresh water is avaiable throughout the day with children given individual named water bottles as required.
No crisps or sweets are allowed at break times but children from Year 3 are encouraged to bring in fruit or a healthy snack that can be eaten at this time. Free fruit is provided for all children from Nursery to Year 2. Free milk is provided for Reception & Nursery children.
