Year 5 Yellow have worked hard to become budding botanists this afternoon. Children were reminded on their previous learning about the different parts of plants. They were challenged with finding the stamen in today’s lesson.
After Miss Fooks modelled how to dissect a lily, children were very eager to get their hands on their flowers and study them and take them apart. We learned lots of new language and found the different parts of the flower including the stamen, pistil, anther and stigma just to name a few. The children were surprised to learn that often flowers have male and female reproduction organs in just one flower!
